The Gunung Paradise Estate is a fully walled area partly located on a hilltop (210 meters above sea level) in the heart of North Bali. It served as a lookout point for the army during World War II (which can be found army staff maps). From the hilltop, where the mansion, Villa is built, one has a beautiful panoramic view to the Bali Sea, sloping hills with rice fields and one of the two highest mountains of Bali on the background (Batukaru, 2.276 mtr). Besides the mansion the compound comprises a guesthouse, a large swimming pool and a staff- annex service building. A children’s playground and a parking lot complete the facilities. The total area is part of a former mango orchard. Most of the mango trees are more than 50 years old. When this estate was developed (between 2001 and 2006) all trees were saved and the houses were built around them. The open spaces in the compound are cultivated and turned into beautiful and lush tropical gardens. A lot of Frangipani and some exotic palm trees have been planted as part of the creation of a lush tropical garden. The style in which Gunung Paradise is built is defined as Classic Colonial and the villas are shaped like little palaces. The villas are richly decorated with paras palimanan stone carved elements and a lot of wood carving. Roof edge, doors and windows are genuine teakwood and where appropriate wood carved according the Balinese carving tradition. The estate was built with love for Balinese culture, eye for detail and with high quality standards in mind. The best materials that were available were applied. Worth mentioning is that the compound is provided with clean and fresh drinking water from a mountain spring that was found 125 meters deep, that supplies high quality drinking water for more than 15 years without any interruption. The entrance is impressive with a lotus pond and fountain just before one enters the compound through an impressive traditional Balinese gate. Besides it is the home to the owners, Gunung Paradise serves as a fully licensed boutique resort (sleeps total 16) with a high level of traditional Balinese hospitality and guest-services resulting into a 5* rating on TripAdvisor.
