January 4th, 2013

Bali is unable to fulfill the demand for Bali coffee from abroad....

One way to increase production capacity is to add processing machinery and improve the ability of farmers.

Coffee production in the province of Bali has been unable to meet the demands of the export market to reach 2,000 tons per year.

"Until now, the coffee farmers in the region are only able to meet the needs of the export market by 50 percent," said Head Plantation Bali Made Dewa Buana Duwuran in Denpasar, on Thursday (3/1).

According to him, in one year the farmers are only able to meet export market demand of 1,000 tons of coffee per year.

The condition occurs because of the limited processing equipment and human resources.

In fact, in one year the average coffee production as a whole in a year on the island is 3,500 tons, of which 2,500 tons is for domestic use.

"Therefore we will continue to increase production volume for export." he said.

He mentioned that one way to increase production capacity is to add processing machinery and improve the ability of farmers.

Coffee produced on the island is now directed to organic arabica and robusta types scattered in Tabanan, Buleleng and Karangasem.
